MCCULLOCH model 47.
COSMETIC RESTORATION IN PROGRESS...................
Information for this saw came from (David Truemner )... of the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum and was passed on to Mr Douglas Rutherford from Ottawa,Canada.
Douglas donated the saw to be restored, saved and preserved as an historical legacy of our logging industry.
Saw history by Douglas Rutherford: I have a McCulloch model 47 in my basement. We got it second hand in the 1950s from a woodsman in the Whitney area on the east side of Algonquin Park and my father, brother and I used it to cut firewood at the family cottage in Algonquin( Cache Lake, Algonquin Park) for two decades. It was a heavy and slow cutting machine compared to models that came along in the 70s and 80s and it has not been fired up for at least 20 years. We sawed a great many logs with that saw into 16 inch lengths and then split them for firewood and I am sure my brother and sister would be most interested to see where our original family chainsaw from the 50s and 60s is. No wonder I had back problems at quite a young age.
